Anthropic pledges USD $50 billion for AI data centres in the US

Sun, 16th Nov 2025

Anthropic has committed USD $50 billion to expand computing infrastructure in the United States, involving the development of new data centres in Texas and New York. The company is partnering with Fluidstack, with more site locations expected in the future. The investment aims to support growing demand for Anthropic's AI services and to advance research capabilities.

Infrastructure expansion

The extensive spending targets the construction of data centres optimised specifically for Anthropic's workloads. These facilities are intended to improve efficiency and support high-performance requirements linked to advanced AI model training and deployment. As AI applications become more computationally intensive, dedicated infrastructure is considered essential for future progress in the field.

Employment impact

The project is projected to generate approximately 800 permanent roles once operations commence and 2,400 construction jobs during the build phase. The new data centres are scheduled to come online during 2026. This hiring drive is expected to contribute significantly to local economies in Texas and New York.

Research and development

Anthropic believes the investment will reinforce its ongoing research, focussing on areas such as alignment, interpretability, and AI safety. The company reports serving over 300,000 business customers and notes a nearly sevenfold increase in large accounts over the past year. These customers each represent more than USD $100,000 in run-rate revenue.

"We're getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren't possible before. Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier," said Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder, Anthropic. "These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs, while creating American jobs."

Strategic partnership

Anthropic's collaboration with Fluidstack is based on the data centre operator's ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure quickly. This partnership aims to ensure that the new facilities are brought online within aggressive timelines as demand for AI services surges.

"Fluidstack was built for this moment," said Gary Wu, co-founder and CEO of Fluidstack. "We're proud to partner with frontier AI leaders like Anthropic to accelerate and deploy the infrastructure necessary to realize their vision."

Market demand

The scale of Anthropic's outlay reflects not only its ambitions in AI research but also increasing use by businesses and developers. Anthropic says it will continue to prioritise capital-efficient approaches for building and scaling infrastructure as demand for its Claude AI platform rises.
