Glance unveils AI-powered shopping app for personalised style

Yesterday

Glance has launched Glance AI, an AI-native commerce platform that enables users to discover AI-curated styles by uploading selfies or images for photorealistic visual shopping experiences tailored to individual preferences.

The standalone application is available worldwide on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with plans for deeper integrations with Android device manufacturers and telecom operators. While Glance AI's initial rollout focuses on fashion, the company intends to expand its offering to encompass categories such as beauty, accessories and travel later in the year.

Glance AI sets itself apart from traditional e-commerce by replacing keyword-based product searches with inspiration-led discovery. Users can upload a selfie or image and are presented with personalised, AI-curated looks generated in real time. These looks are mapped to shoppable products from a pool of over 400 brands worldwide. The platform uses advanced diffusion models, neural visualisation, and personalisation engines to tailor each style to the user's body, skin tone, and wardrobe preferences. Purchases can be completed in-app, and users have control over their personal data.

"The internet is being rewritten from curated feeds to AI-generated realities. At Glance, we're proud to lead this transformation with our most advanced AI-native commerce platform yet. Glance AI reimagines how billions of consumers worldwide will discover, visualize and shop, replacing intent with inspiration and search with intelligent, autonomous agents. Embedded across phones, TVs and brand stores, Glance AI marks a paradigm shift in commerce. It is one of the most ambitious technological efforts in our journey and a bold step toward shaping the future of AI-driven consumer experiences," Naveen Tewari, Founder & CEO of InMobi & Glance, said.

The technology underpinning Glance AI is structured into three primary layers. The Commerce Intelligence Model has been trained on 20 years of global commerce data, allowing it to anticipate user intent, behaviour and preferences by learning from global trends and cultures. The GenAI Experience Model focuses on generating hyper-realistic style visualisations across thousands of attributes, including gender, ethnicity, fit, and seasonality. Finally, the Transaction Journey Model is designed to interpret user shopping intent, connecting visualised looks with the most relevant products from global catalogues.

For user privacy, Glance AI operates as a fully opt-in platform with core privacy and data control elements established at its foundation. Users can try on new looks, save or share their images, set them as wallpapers, or visualise themselves in trending collections and styles for various global events and seasons.

Beyond being a standalone app, Glance AI is constructed on an open architecture for cross-platform compatibility. It can integrate into mobile device lock screens, television interfaces, third-party applications, and various brand websites. This architecture allows for what the company describes as "always-on accessibility," aiming to create seamless AI-powered experiences wherever users engage with commerce digitally.

The company has partnered with platforms including Google Gemini and Imagen on Vertex AI to deliver highly personalised, photorealistic user experiences. The open architecture also enables collaborations with manufacturers, telecom operators, and retailers, allowing devices and storefronts to adopt the AI-driven commerce system.

During early US-based trials, Glance AI saw over 1.5 million active users within just a few weeks, with half of them returning on a weekly basis. The platform recorded over 40 million style requests during this period. Engagement rates were also significant: 50% of users downloaded or shared their personalised styles, while 40% proceeded to browse shopping journeys based on the AI's curated recommendations.

Glance AI is designed to support expansion beyond fashion products. Updates are planned to extend to additional commerce categories later in the year, reflecting the company's goal to set a new benchmark for AI-driven commerce engagement and retention.
