Hitachi Vantara launches VSP One with three key guarantees

Today

Hitachi Vantara has introduced new guarantees for its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) aimed at performance, cyber resilience, and sustainability in enterprise storage environments.

The newly announced guarantees are intended to give organisations reassurance around storage performance, enhance protection and recovery from cyber threats, and provide clear accountability on environmental impact, all underpinned by service level agreements (SLAs).

Hitachi Vantara describes managing IT infrastructure as increasingly challenging for companies, citing factors such as manual processes, fragmented data environments, and unpredictable performance. These issues can lead to operational inefficiencies and higher costs.

Cyber threats remain a primary concern, with ransomware attacks and data breaches posing a risk to business continuity. The Hidden Cost of Downtime report, published by Oxford Economics, is referenced by Hitachi Vantara, stating that cyber incidents like ransomware cause Global 2000 companies an estimated USD $400 billion per year in downtime, equating to roughly 9% of annual profits.

Organisations are also under pressure to reduce environmental impact, prompting demand for technology that optimises power usage, manages carbon footprint, and lowers operating expenses.

The VSP One enhancements specifically address issues faced by mid-sized enterprise IT managers, current customers seeking upgrades, and partners who prefer straightforward propositions.

Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, said: "IT complexity, cyber threats and sustainability challenges continue to put enterprises under extreme pressure. With VSP One's latest enhancements, we are eliminating those roadblocks by delivering a unified, automation-friendly platform with guaranteed performance, resilience and efficiency built in. This is more than just data storage—it's a smarter, more sustainable way to manage enterprise data at scale."

The VSP One updates focus on automation and SLA-driven commitments, aiming to provide a cloud-like operational experience for storage management. Three new guarantees are introduced as part of the offering:

The Performance Guarantee ensures that applications operate at predictable, high-performance levels. This promise is available across all VSP One Block platforms and is backed by EverFlex from Hitachi. If performance targets are not reached, customers are eligible for service credits.

The Cyber Resilience Guarantee is designed to help organisations limit downtime and data loss in the event of cyberattacks. The platform incorporates immutable snapshots and artificial intelligence-driven Ransomware Detection technology powered by CyberSense. If data restoration is not possible following an incident, Hitachi Vantara will provide specialist incident response and up to a 100% credit of the affected storage volume.

The Sustainability Guarantee supports businesses in tracking and optimising their energy usage and aims to reduce carbon footprint by up to 40% through VSP One's energy-efficient architecture and reporting. A dedicated power efficiency SLA provides accountability for both cost management and environmental objectives.

These commitments build upon existing guarantees from Hitachi Vantara. The company already offers a 100% data availability guarantee to support uninterrupted access to critical data, as well as a 4:1 data reduction guarantee under the Effective Capacity Guarantee, and the Modern Storage Assurance Guarantee, which provides ongoing, non-disruptive upgrades to new controllers without requiring capacity repurchases.

Hitachi Vantara highlights that its VSP One platform provides a single, integrated ecosystem for storage management, contrasting this with approaches that rely on multiple APIs and diverse management tools.

Jim McGann, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Index Engines, commented: "Ransomware continues to threaten the viability of today's enterprises. The addition of VSP One's Cyber Resilience Guarantee, including Ransomware Detection powered by CyberSense, equips organisations with the intelligence and automation needed to strengthen their cyber resilience.

By integrating advanced tools like VSP One and CyberSense, IT teams can streamline recovery workflows, minimise downtime and validate the integrity of critical data with greater confidence to minimize the impact of an attack."

Hitachi Vantara's approach positions VSP One as a multi-faceted storage platform, with guarantees intended to assure customers over performance, protection, and environmental responsibility in a complex, fast-evolving digital infrastructure environment.
