Rackspace names Joseph Vito to lead global alliances
Rackspace Technology has appointed Joseph Vito as Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliance Partnerships, tasking him with overseeing the company's global approach to technology and channel relationships.
Rackspace confirmed that Vito will lead the strategy for building and strengthening partnerships across its alliance ecosystem. The company views the role as central to its ongoing collaboration with technology providers and channel partners.
Vito joins Rackspace after roles spanning cloud programmes, technology transformation, and enterprise IT leadership across several industries. Rackspace said he has more than 25 years of experience in technology leadership, cloud transformation, and enterprise solutions across financial services, life sciences, energy, and consumer manufacturing.
Background roles
Most recently, Vito worked at Amazon Web Services on its Global Business and Advisory teams. Rackspace said he served as a Strategic Transformation Principal. The company said he advised large organisations on cloud adoption strategies and migration away from legacy systems.
Before AWS, Vito worked at Dell-EMC as a Transformation Advisor, according to Rackspace. The company said he advised clients on investment decisions and on the design and deployment of integrated solutions. Rackspace cited DevOps and workload management as areas included in that work.
Rackspace also highlighted earlier leadership positions in financial services and data operations. These included Chief Information Officer for UBS's Global Data Services division, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Data Operations at Dun & Bradstreet, and CTO/CIO at US Trust & Merrill Lynch.
Rackspace framed the hire as part of its wider focus on modern cloud environments and AI-related workloads. It describes itself as a hybrid cloud and AI solutions company. It works with multiple technology platforms and different deployment models.
Alliance focus
In recent years, large managed cloud providers and systems integrators have placed greater emphasis on alliances with hyperscale cloud firms, software companies, and channel partners. These relationships often shape go-to-market motions, services portfolios, and joint delivery models.
Rackspace said Vito will lead its global strategy in this area. The company did not disclose financial terms related to the appointment or any immediate changes to its partnership line-up.
The company said its work covers designing, building, and operating customer cloud environments. It also said it operates across major technology platforms regardless of customer technology stack or deployment model.
Rackspace Chief Executive Gajen Kandiah referenced cloud transformation and partnerships in a statement about the appointment.
"Joe's deep expertise in cloud transformation and his proven ability to build strategic partnerships will be instrumental in advancing Rackspace's mission to deliver modern cloud environments that enable AI at scale," said Gajen Kandiah, CEO, Rackspace Technology.
Rackspace said Vito holds a Bachelor of Arts in Managerial Economics from Union College and a Master's degree in Finance from Pace University.
The company said Vito will lead its strategic alliance partnerships function as it continues work across hybrid cloud services and AI-related projects.
