Alteryx deepens Google Cloud BigQuery analytics tie-up
Alteryx and Google Cloud have expanded their partnership with a deeper integration between Alteryx One and Google Cloud's BigQuery data warehouse.
The companies said the update focuses on running Alteryx workflows directly against BigQuery data. The move aims to expand business users' access to analytics and strengthen data governance for data teams.
Alteryx also outlined plans for a Google-specific version of its platform. The company said it intends to list Alteryx One: Google Edition in the Google Cloud Marketplace.
In-place workflows
The central product change is the general availability of Live Query for BigQuery within Alteryx One. Alteryx said users can build analytics workflows in Alteryx One and execute them in Google Cloud.
The companies positioned the approach as "in-place analytics". It keeps data within BigQuery rather than moving it into a separate processing environment.
Alteryx said the integration targets information workers who use no-code tools. It also targets organisations that standardise on BigQuery as their central analytics and AI platform.
Alteryx said Live Query for BigQuery allows business users to work with BigQuery datasets through the Alteryx interface. The company said users can run transformations and calculations without writing SQL.
Alteryx described the change as a way to reduce local downloads, extracts and spreadsheet-based processing. It stated that workflows execute within Google Cloud.
The company also set out governance and oversight themes. It said the approach keeps business logic within governed workflows and runs them where the data sits.
IT oversight
Alteryx said the integration gives IT and data teams more control over how business users interact with BigQuery datasets. It pointed to auditability and centralised security.
The company said running workflows inside Google Cloud reduces the need for separate pipelines and unmanaged extracts. It also said the approach simplifies architecture for teams building analytic processes across departments.
Alteryx listed use cases that involve business logic encoded as repeatable workflows. It said users can prepare data, apply business rules and perform calculations directly in BigQuery, then execute and automate the resulting workflows at warehouse scale.
The announcement also framed the integration in the context of AI programmes. The companies linked the ability to codify and reuse business logic with repeatability for analytics and governed AI work.
AI context
Alteryx said organisations increasingly apply analytics and AI to revenue reporting, risk, compliance and operational planning. It said these areas raise expectations around accuracy and transparency.
"Enterprises are learning that AI can't guess its way to trusted outcomes," said Ben Canning, Chief Product Officer, Alteryx.
"Models don't inherently understand the quality, context, or business definitions behind revenue, risk scoring, or compliance. Through this collaboration and by leveraging Google Cloud, Alteryx is able to embed governed, repeatable logic directly into BigQuery, enabling the people who know the business best to create and maintain it. Alteryx helps ensure AI outcomes stay aligned with how the business operates, even as it evolves," said Canning.
Google Cloud positioned the expanded integration as part of broader enterprise data strategies. Many organisations maintain multiple data sources and rely on warehouse platforms as a consolidation layer.
"Data analytics remains a critical component of every enterprise's digital transformation strategy," said Yasmeen Ahmad, Managing Director, Product Management, Data & AI Cloud, Google Cloud.
"Utilising Google Cloud's BigQuery, Alteryx will power new capabilities that can improve how business teams access and analyse data, enabling real-world value and faster insights for organisations," said Ahmad.
Marketplace plan
Alteryx said it plans to introduce Alteryx One: Google Edition as a Google-first variant of Alteryx One. The company said it expects the offer to integrate with BigQuery, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
Alteryx described the product as aimed at business professionals working within Google's ecosystem. It also described the product as a more streamlined deployment and procurement path via the Google Cloud Marketplace.
"As we continue to deepen our partnership with Google Cloud, we are helping organisations gain a faster, simpler path to adopting and scaling a Google-first analytics experience," said Rajkumar Irudayaraj, Senior Vice President, Global Technology and Innovation Partners, Alteryx.
"By making Alteryx available on Google Cloud Marketplace, we're helping customers accelerate adoption, simplify procurement, and empower teams working in BigQuery to drive smarter, faster business outcomes," said Irudayaraj.
