Format-3 wins Webby Award for The Pendragon Cycle site

Mon, 27th Apr 2026 (Today)

Format-3 has won a Webby Award for its work on The Pendragon Cycle. The honour came in the Best Websites and Mobile Sites category for Television, Film and Streaming.

The London digital product studio was recognised for an immersive site that treated interaction as part of the narrative and the interface as a storytelling medium.

Founded in January 2023, Format-3 is a relatively new entrant to the digital agency market. It works with organisations to design and build digital experiences with an emphasis on craft, clarity and intent.

The Webby Awards, organised by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, are widely followed in the digital media industry. The programme spans websites, video, advertising, apps and social media.

For Format-3, the win marks an early milestone since launch. The Pendragon Cycle project was shaped in detail, from structure to motion, to create what the studio described as a cohesive experience.

Studio growth

Headquartered in London, the business has built a client list that includes Alpiq, Weir Group and Euronet. That roster suggests the studio has won assignments across a mix of sectors while still in its first years of operation.

The recognition also places Format-3 in a category spanning digital work tied to television, film and streaming, where competition often includes large media groups, entertainment brands and established creative agencies.

Industry awards do not always translate into commercial success, but they can help smaller studios raise their profile with prospective clients and recruits. In that context, a Webby win gives Format-3 external validation at a time when newer agencies often need independent recognition to stand out in a crowded market.

Founder reaction

Hardy Sidhu, founder and CEO of Format-3, said: "Winning a Webby Award in such a competitive category, spanning television, film and streaming, places our work with The Pendragon Cycle alongside some of the most ambitious digital experiences produced globally.

"It's an incredibly proud moment for the entire Format-3 team, and its significance extends beyond the award itself. For us, it reinforces a belief that the future of agency is not defined by size, but by focus. Not by layers, but by clarity. Not by process alone, but by the quality of thinking and execution behind the work. This moment stands as proof that a different model can not only compete at the highest level, but lead."

The Pendragon Cycle formed the basis of the award-winning entry. Format-3 said the project moved beyond standard website conventions, with the digital journey itself intended to become part of the storytelling.

That approach reflects a broader shift in digital design, as agencies and brands seek to make websites and mobile experiences more distinctive in sectors where audiences are used to richer visual and interactive formats. Media and entertainment projects, in particular, have become a testing ground for more cinematic digital presentation.

For smaller studios, that environment creates both opportunity and risk. Clients may be more willing to commission specialist agencies for tightly defined work, but expectations are high and the field is crowded with firms pitching creative originality alongside technical delivery.

Format-3's award suggests newer agencies can still break through if they produce work that resonates with judges in global competitions. Its short history makes the result notable, given that it was established little more than three years before this year's awards cycle.

The Webby Awards have long positioned themselves as a benchmark for digital work, and recognition in the programme is often used by agencies and studios to demonstrate creative standing. In practical terms, wins in categories linked to entertainment and streaming can be especially visible because they sit close to consumer-facing brands and high-profile content franchises.

Sidhu framed the award as evidence of the studio's operating model as well as the project itself.
