GitProtect DevOps backup now live on Microsoft Marketplace

Fri, 27th Feb 2026

GitProtect, a DevOps backup and recovery product from Xopero Software, is now available through Microsoft Marketplace. The listing expands access for Microsoft customers that buy and deploy third-party software through Azure and related services.

The product now sits alongside other cloud software in Microsoft's online catalogue. Customers can purchase it through existing Microsoft procurement and billing arrangements, which many large organisations use to centralise purchasing and vendor management.

GitProtect is designed to protect development assets such as source code repositories and related DevOps data. It provides backup, recovery, and security controls for teams running modern software delivery workflows, including environments that use multiple developer tools and hosted services.

Marketplace access

Microsoft Marketplace is a distribution channel for software vendors aiming to reach customers already committed to Microsoft's cloud and management stack. It often appeals to enterprises that want to reduce separate supplier contracts and simplify renewals and invoicing.

Marketplace availability can also standardise onboarding. Vendors must meet Microsoft requirements, including security and quality checks for publishing, which can shorten internal review cycles for some customers.

According to Xopero Software, selling through the marketplace reduces friction for organisations adopting GitProtect for DevOps data protection. It also increases visibility with managed service providers that build standard catalogues for clients, where procurement simplicity can influence tool selection.

What GitProtect does

GitProtect is an automated backup and disaster recovery product for DevOps platforms. It is designed to protect source code, repositories, and the metadata surrounding development activity.

It includes automated backups and granular restore, along with disaster recovery features such as backup replication. Xopero also lists compression and deduplication to reduce storage consumption and manage backup growth over time.

GitProtect supports a range of DevOps and collaboration tools, including Jira, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps, as well as other DevOps stack data. The breadth reflects the tool sprawl many engineering teams manage, with development, issue tracking, and pipeline automation data spread across vendors and hosting models.

Storage options include both cloud and on-premises deployment, according to Xopero. This setup suits organisations that keep some development systems in-house for policy or latency reasons while running others in public cloud environments.

Security and compliance

DevOps data protection has gained prominence as attackers increasingly target developer accounts, tokens, and pipelines. Incidents range from accidental repository deletion to compromises of build systems that inject malicious code into software releases.

Xopero positions GitProtect as a cyber-resilience measure for software development operations. "Strengthening cyber resilience in modern software development environments is at the core of GitProtect," said Łukasz Jesis, Founder and CEO, GitProtect. "Being available in Microsoft Marketplace lowers the barrier to adopting our solution and supports teams looking for a trusted, enterprise-ready approach to DevOps backup and recovery."

Xopero also emphasises compliance. It says the platform complies with SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, DoD standards, and FISMA. These frameworks matter to buyers in regulated industries and the public sector, where audit requirements and formal controls influence purchasing decisions.

Commercial footprint

GitProtect is used in more than 60 countries and by more than 2,000 organisations, according to Xopero. The company lists customers including Datev, Flagstar Bank, the State of California, Marex, Quest Diagnostics, Telecom Argentina, HEMA, and RED.

Competition in DevOps backup and recovery includes specialist vendors and broader data protection providers that have expanded into software development tooling. Marketplace listings have become an important route to reach buyers that begin procurement inside cloud platforms rather than through direct sales outreach.

For Microsoft, the marketplace is a core part of how it packages partner software alongside its own cloud services. Microsoft promotes the marketplace as a way to find, evaluate, and buy cloud solutions within its products, including Azure.

"Microsoft Marketplace helps organizations and partners move faster, work smarter, and grow by connecting them with the right solutions - all in one trusted place," said Cyril Belikoff, Vice President, Microsoft Azure Product Marketing, Microsoft. "We're happy to welcome GitProtect to the growing Microsoft Marketplace ecosystem."

With marketplace availability, customers can acquire and manage GitProtect through the same purchasing workflows they use for other Azure-related services, with deployment within Microsoft's ecosystem.
