IGEL & Carahsoft partner to expand public sector zero-trust access
IGEL and Carahsoft Technology have entered into a partnership aimed at extending public sector access to IGEL's secure endpoint platform across North America.
Through the agreement, Carahsoft will take on the role of IGEL's Master Government Aggregator. This arrangement is designed to expand IGEL's presence within US government and public sector markets, working with Carahsoft's network of reseller partners and associated contract vehicles, including OMNIA Partners and E&I Cooperative Services.
Strategic expansion
The partnership is intended to simplify procurement for government agencies seeking to modernise and secure their endpoint environments. IGEL's VP Channel Sales N.A., Phil Eden, commented on the new arrangement:
Partnering with Carahsoft offers streamlined access to the Public Sector through its trusted reseller partners, extensive contract vehicles, and vast partner network. Federal agencies are under pressure to modernize securely, and IGEL OS provides a future-ready, zero-trust endpoint strategy that delivers both control and flexibility.
IGEL OS is a lightweight operating system for endpoints that supports various deployment scenarios including Desktop as a Service (DaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Operational Technology (OT), and secure enterprise browsing. Its design features include an immutable, no-local-data architecture that aligns with federal zero-trust security mandates, which is intended to help agencies reduce risk, extend device lifecycles, and manage costs.
The collaboration builds upon IGEL's progress in the US federal market, which includes the company's certification for ISO/IEC 27001, ongoing education about proactive endpoint protection, and recent product launches. Announcements from IGEL's Now & Next 2025 event featured the IGEL Managed Hypervisor for legacy app support, an extension of IGEL's Preventative Security Model through partnership with wolfSSL (with FIPS 140-3 Level 1 certification in progress), and federal-specific secure browser-based access for zero-trust environments. IGEL already works with a range of federal, civilian, and critical infrastructure agencies.
Supporting zero-trust in government
Evan Slack, Sales Director overseeing the IGEL Team at Carahsoft, described the context for the partnership in light of ongoing cybersecurity challenges faced by the public sector.
As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, Government agencies need trusted solutions to protect data and ensure operational continuity. Carahsoft and our reseller partners are committed to delivering secure technologies that support zero-trust and modernization goals. By adding IGEL to our portfolio, we're streamlining agency access to a policy-driven endpoint solution that meets today's mission needs without added complexity or cost.
Under the arrangement, Stratodesk - which is now part of IGEL - will also see its customers given access to IGEL's platform through Carahsoft. This aims to enable further modernisation of endpoint strategy for Stratodesk users, providing a secure, cloud-ready operating system with a view to cost-effectiveness.
Contract vehicles and availability
IGEL's offerings will be accessible through Carahsoft's OMNIA Partners Contract #R191902 and E&I Contract #EI00063~2021MA, enabling agencies to procure the technology through established purchasing frameworks.
IGEL's approach, via its Preventative Security Model and Preventative Security Architecture, is focused on reducing attack surfaces. The platform promotes zero-trust security, operational resilience, and the extension of device lifecycles, in line with sustainability and cost saving objectives for public sector clients.
