Airbyte adds workspaces & HubSpot writes for agents

Airbyte has added workspaces to its Agents platform and expanded HubSpot write functions for AI agents. The changes introduce access controls and let agents create or update selected HubSpot records.

The workspaces feature gives organisations separate spaces within Airbyte Agents for users, connectors and AI agents. Each workspace has its own membership and access to specific data connectors, while organisation administrators retain visibility across all workspaces for platform usage and billing.

This structure is designed to let teams such as sales, marketing, engineering and support use shared connectors without exposing every system to every user. Members can be added to or removed from workspaces as needed, and only workspace members can view and use the connectors assigned to them.

Teams can set up both shared and private workspaces. Each workspace also has its own context store, defined by the connectors used in that workspace, so agents operate only on data and context within that environment.

Michel Tricot, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Airbyte, outlined the company's position on the update.

"With workspaces, organizations can effectively serve many different users with only the access to the data connectors that they require, which provides organizations with a new level of governance for their AI usage," said Tricot.

The second part of the update concerns HubSpot. Airbyte has added write operations to its HubSpot agent connectors, allowing AI agents to create and update contacts, companies, deals and tickets.

Until now, the connector had been focused on retrieving information. The new functions let agents make changes inside HubSpot as well as read records, subject to permissions set by administrators.

Organisations can decide which HubSpot object types support read or write operations. Permission scopes are designed to let administrators grant only the access needed for a particular workflow.

Tricot linked the HubSpot change to a broader shift in how AI agents are used inside companies.

"And, the write capabilities added to the HubSpot connector enables AI agents to not just retrieve information, but to take action," said Tricot.

Team plan

The workspaces feature is part of Airbyte's Team plan for Airbyte Agents. The plan is aimed at organisations with multiple users and includes single sign-on security.

Pricing for the Team plan starts at USD $299 a month and includes 10,000 Agent Operations. Additional Agent Operations are priced at USD $0.005 each.

Airbyte presents the changes as part of a broader effort to build a data platform for what it describes as agentic AI. In practice, that means giving AI systems access to operational data, retrieval tools, governance controls and the ability to take action in business software.

Its Agents offering provides a unified view of operational data through a replicated, search-optimised context store, alongside a software development kit, a command-line interface and an MCP endpoint for compatible clients. The product is built on Airbyte's open-source data replication platform.

Airbyte says 7,000 enterprises use its platform to move structured and unstructured data across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. The company positions it for both analytics pipelines and AI agents, with the latest workspaces and HubSpot changes intended to tighten access control while expanding what agents can do inside third-party applications.

Organisation administrators can still see every workspace because they need visibility into usage and billing across the platform.
