UiPath adds governance & data controls to AI platform

UiPath has introduced a set of updates to its automation platform, focused on governance, data, integration and deployment.

The additions are intended to keep automations, agents and workflows within customer-defined controls as businesses expand their use of AI-led software tools.

Among the most notable changes, UiPath has made its Coding Agents generally available on the platform. The tools are designed to help teams discover, build and refine automations across their lifecycle, and can work with supported agents including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Antigravity through natural-language requests in a live session.

UiPath also introduced Delegate, a productivity agent intended to act on behalf of users for administrative and role-specific work. It can support software testing tasks by gathering context, moving information between systems, updating records, attaching evidence and preparing summaries.

According to UiPath, Delegate can turn repeatable workflows from tester actions and recorded sessions into reusable routines. Those routines can then run on demand, on a schedule or through defined triggers, while testers continue to handle judgement, strategy, quality decisions and final sign-off.

UiPath is also extending coding agents into UiPath IXP, where the software is being used to automate project setup work in document extraction. In that process, a coding agent creates a project, checks predictions against source documents, adjusts lower-scoring fields and publishes the result, while a person approves the final outcome.

Data controls

Two other updates are intended to address how enterprise data is used when building and running automations. These cover UiPath's Integration Service and Data Fabric products.

In Integration Service, UiPath has added Database Hub, Relay, Third-Party Credential Store and MCP Connector. Database Hub allows reads and writes to systems such as SQL Server, Oracle and Databricks without custom code, while Relay connects cloud automations to on-premises and ground systems.

Third-Party Credential Store lets customers use their existing enterprise credential systems when creating connections, rather than duplicating those credentials inside UiPath. MCP Connector is designed to let workflows call tools from compatible MCP servers as a native activity instead of through a custom-built adapter.

Data Fabric has also been updated to let agents query native entities directly as generally available context. This is intended to ground decisions in current business records rather than flat API responses.

UiPath added that Federated Entities provide zero-copy connectivity to external data sources including Salesforce and SAP, with an audit trail and improved tooling, without copying the underlying data. Builders can use the same governed entities across other parts of the platform, including orchestration and coding agents.

Governance push

A central theme of the announcement was tighter oversight of how AI agents behave inside enterprise systems. UiPath has added controls across models, actions, data and permissions under a single policy framework that applies to agents, robots and human users.

The new governance features include Model Hub, Runtime Checker, LLM-as-Judge Guardrail, Compliance Packs and Identity & Access Policies. Together, these features are intended to give customers visibility into which models are in use, how they are routed, whether behaviour aligns with policy, and who or what can access a model, tool or resource.

Runtime Checker is designed to validate agent behaviour continuously while an agent is running, rather than only when it is built. LLM-as-Judge Guardrail evaluates outputs against custom criteria, while Compliance Packs map regulatory and internal standards into controls that can be tracked.

The changes come as more businesses look to deploy software agents that can take actions with less direct human input. That has increased pressure on suppliers to show not only what an AI system was meant to do, but what it actually did in production environments.

UiPath also said Automation Suite is now available on Linux with what it described as the full platform agentic AI stack. The company said this gives organisations with strict regulatory, sovereignty or security requirements more control over where data runs and how policies are enforced, while keeping infrastructure in-house.

Raghu Malpani, Chief Product and Technology Officer at UiPath, said the company sees enterprise context and control as central to wider AI adoption. "Our platform gives customers the map they need to chart the right course for agentic transformation, at the pace and context their enterprise requires," Malpani said. "That context informs the control plane that governs building, data access, integration, and the launch of automations that run the business, with the assurance that it all stays inside the boundaries the business sets."
