Boomi acquires Thru to enhance secure file transfer platform

Today

Boomi has announced the acquisition of Thru in a move that will introduce secure managed file transfer capabilities into the Boomi Enterprise Platform.

The transaction, which is expected to close by the end of June 2025, aims to unify API, application, and file-based integrations, offering customers the ability to manage all data movement from a single interface instead of dealing with multiple tools for managed file transfer (MFT).

Boomi's acquisition of Thru is designed to bolster its offerings in sectors that require stringent compliance, such as financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing. These industries commonly depend on secure file transfers to support business operations, often needing to meet regulatory standards like SOC 2.

Greg Wolfe, Chief Commercial Officer at Boomi, said: "As organisations increasingly manage a hybrid mix of API-based and file-based integrations, Thru, Inc.'s proven MFT technology ensures secure, scalable, and compliant file exchange across distributed business ecosystems."

He added, "The addition of these capabilities further strengthens Boomi's ability to deliver dynamic, context-aware integration across diverse data types and systems, especially for those use cases with strict compliance requirements such as SOC 2, and others."

Boomi and Thru have had a long-standing partnership serving enterprise customers in sectors highly reliant on secure and efficient file transfers. The integration of Thru's MFT functionality directly into the Boomi Enterprise Platform intends to streamline how enterprises handle files, APIs, and applications, providing a unified and more simplified user experience.

Thru's technology provides secure, encrypted, zero-trust file exchange, supports scalable high-volume transfers, and offers full audit trails. These features will now become an integral part of Boomi's cloud-native architecture. The acquisition further supports Boomi's strategy to deliver secure, end-to-end file transfer at scale for enterprise customers seeking to upgrade or modernise legacy MFT tools.

With the inclusion of Thru's services, Boomi customers will gain native MFT capabilities within the platform. This includes secure and compliant file exchanges through encryption of data in transit and at rest, scanning for potential threats, and adherence to global compliance standards, including SOC 2, within a zero trust framework. The elastic architecture also enables efficient operations for high-volume file transfers without the need for additional infrastructure.

Centralised monitoring, real-time alerts, and detailed audit trails are additional features intended to give organisations operational visibility and control over all file movements. These capabilities are expected to provide support to large enterprises as they transition from older file transfer solutions while meeting regulatory and security demands.

Boomi stated that the acquisition reflects its ongoing commitment to modernising its enterprise platform, improving automation features, and delivering increased value to its global customer base. By embedding Thru's solution, Boomi seeks to offer greater flexibility, automation, and security for organisations managing a range of integration requirements in an increasingly digital environment.

The agreement between Boomi and Thru remains subject to customary closing conditions ahead of the expected completion timeframe.
