Enveil boosts secure encrypted search with ZeroReveal 6.0 update

Fri, 18th Jul 2025

Enveil has released ZeroReveal Search 6.0, a software update intended to enable secure and efficient data usage at scale for data-driven organisations.

The new version of ZeroReveal focuses on several core enhancements, including increased processing speed for encrypted searches, improved scalability, and a smaller form factor to support diverse hardware environments such as Edge and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Performance and features

Powered by Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) including homomorphic encryption (HE) and secure multiparty computation (SMPC), ZeroReveal Search 6.0 allows encrypted operations to be integrated into existing workflows while maintaining performance levels necessary for practical business and mission-critical applications. The company reports the system processes over a gigabyte of data per second per thread in encrypted searches. According to Enveil, performance in typical scenarios is now determined by system memory bandwidth, rather than the computational overhead traditionally associated with homomorphic encryption.

Features introduced in ZeroReveal Search 6.0 include scalability improvements for easier integration of commercial, open source, and third-party data sources, as well as expanded support for additional data types. This version also introduces customised visualisations for time-series and weather data and optimisations targeting resource-constrained environments, such as limited-bandwidth and Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) conditions. Further, customer-driven workflow enhancements, such as scheduled queries, allow encrypted operations to run at defined intervals across various data sources.

Cross-boundary data usage

The software is intended to enable organisations to work with data across silos and boundaries, including those related to organisational, jurisdictional, and security concerns. ZeroReveal users can perform secure analysis, alerting, and collaboration using disparate data sets without increasing operational risk or compromising data integrity.

The company says ZeroReveal's two-party deployment model is already operational at scale, supporting use cases in both commercial and public sector domains.

Statements from Enveil

"To unlock business-enabling value, data-driven organizations need to efficiently utilize data where it is and as it is today without compromising privacy or security," said Dr. Ellison Anne Williams, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Enveil. "ZeroReveal 6.0 is optimized to address the challenges inherent in the digital era by accelerating secure, cross-boundary data usage to meet the needs of our global customer base in a way that directly advances business and mission outcomes."

The company's engineering and product teams have highlighted the maturity and performance of this release within the PETs market.

"Privacy Enhancing Technologies are ready for prime time - the performance and maturity of this ZeroReveal 6.0 release proves that these technologies can be reliably and effectively utilized at scale as part of enterprise workflows," said Dr. Ryan Carr, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering at Enveil. "We are proud to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible by building cutting-edge, PETs-powered solutions that deliver value for our customers."

Protection of data in use

ZeroReveal is designed to protect Data in Use, ensuring that the content of searches, analytics, or machine learning models, as well as their outputs, remain confidential. The company's suite of offerings also supports Secure AI applications, permitting machine learning on decentralised and encrypted datasets without exposing underlying data.

Enveil maintains that the product's current deployments and operational status validate the effectiveness of PETs for enterprise clients, supporting workflows in fraud prevention, secure planning, and other data-driven activities that require robust privacy controls.
