Filevine launches AI Assistant to chat with complete case data

Yesterday

Filevine has announced the launch of its expanded FilevineAI platform, which introduces an AI Legal Assistant allowing legal professionals to chat directly with all case files stored on its system.

The new feature, termed "Chat with Your Case", is integrated into Filevine's existing legal work platform, giving users streamlined, conversational access to case materials within a secure environment.

Ryan Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Filevine, said: "FilevineAI isn't just a tool, it's a transformation. We are re-engineering the very way legal professionals interact with their work. With the ability to chat directly with their case data inside a secure, trusted system, lawyers can now move faster, think deeper, and deliver better outcomes. This is the beginning of a new era in legaltech, and Filevine is at the front of it."

The company noted that many other legal AI products offer chat functions which are typically limited to a subset of uploaded documents. FilevineAI differs by offering access to the complete set of case and matter data held within the Filevine platform, such as court deadlines, billing information, discovery documents, client communications, and negotiation records.

Filevine stated that its platform is the only legal AI tool that enables professionals to chat with 100% of their matter data, which covers internal notes, comments, audit logs, task lists, billing and expense records, emails, client communications, court schedules, contact data, discovery files, medical and insurance information, negotiation histories, and conflict checks.

Sara Waugh, Lead Case Manager at Lerner & Rowe Injury Attorneys, shared her experience with Filevine's AI features: "The AI features in Filevine have helped our firm save time and be more organised. We've been able to make use of the medical chronology to build a timeline by date of care which includes all treatment, related or not. The CPT and Diagnosis codes coming into our demand letter has helped our staff create more detailed demands without having to spend time to look up CPT/Diagnosis on our own."

Waugh also noted the benefits of the AI validation suite, stating: "The AI validation suite has been excellent to make sure specific details are in the case before it can move to the next phase. It prevents prematurely moving to the next step when it's not warranted."

FilevineAI is fully integrated within the company's HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2 Type II certified platform. This integration eliminates the need for external uploads and provides a secure environment for client information. Unlike standalone AI tools, FilevineAI relies on advanced vector-based search and proprietary retrieval-augmented generation technology, providing real-time answers backed by the full context of case information.

Legal professionals using FilevineAI can access key deadlines, summarise depositions, track client medical treatment, and generate follow-up tasks through a secure, conversational interface within Filevine. The AI Assistant is designed to support various roles within a legal team, automating routine tasks, summarising documents, and helping to generate actionable insights based on firm-specific workflows and practice areas.

Brianna Connelly, Vice President of Data Science at Filevine, commented: "Legal professionals don't have time to curate what information might be relevant to their questions. By incorporating the full case data automatically, FIlevine is removing a massive cognitive burden and allowing lawyers and legal staff to focus on strategy rather than information management. Filevine's integrated approach ensures that every document, every note, and every piece of case data intentionally stored in Filevine is automatically included in the conversation, creating a comprehensive intelligence layer that grows alongside each case."

The platform aims to support legal teams in enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and the decision-making process without the need to manually manage or filter case-related information.
