Shield has been named a Visionary in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for Digital Communications Governance and Archiving Solutions, which evaluated 16 vendors.

In a separate Gartner Critical Capabilities report for the same market, Shield ranked among the three highest-scoring vendors across six use cases: Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Investigations, Organisational Insights, Archive and Retention, and AI Communications Governance.

The recognition marks the third consecutive year the New York-based company has appeared in Gartner's Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities assessments for the category since it was established.

Digital communications governance and archiving tools help regulated organisations capture, retain, supervise and investigate employee communications across channels including email, messaging, voice and video. The market is drawing more attention as financial institutions and other regulated groups seek to manage a broader range of data sources and more complex compliance requirements.

Gartner said in the report: "By 2030, 70% of enterprises using DCGA solutions will adopt AI-driven features and processes, up from 40% in 2025, due to increasing data complexity and governance demands."

It added: "By 2029, 85% of DCGA customers will consolidate the supervision of text- and audio/video-based content to a single DCGA solution, which is a major increase from less than 20% in 2025."

Shield said its system combines communications capture, archiving, surveillance, investigations and governance for AI-based tools in one platform. It supports more than 150 communication sources and detects risk across more than 100 languages.

Product scope

The platform is aimed at regulated organisations, particularly in financial services, where firms face pressure to store larger volumes of digital communications and monitor them for misconduct, market abuse and other compliance risks.

Shield said its AmplifAI suite expands surveillance coverage with 91.7% precision and reduces alerts requiring manual review by 77.3%. It also said the tools can speed up investigations by as much as seven times and provide explanations within alerts while keeping human oversight in the review process.

Its archive product offers both hot and cold storage and can reduce data storage costs by up to 50%, according to the company. Shield added that the service is designed to simplify migration from older archive systems.

Recent product additions include bringing Microsoft 365 Copilot and Claude interactions into the Shield system for search, surveillance and review. Shield also said its MCP Server allows customers to use live alert information inside supported AI tools while keeping existing governance and access controls in place.

Executive view

Shield linked the Gartner recognition to its focus on combining communications compliance data with AI-based analysis and controls for regulated clients.

"Our vision has always been to give compliance teams a platform that they can trust, so they're ready for whatever comes next," said Shiran Weitzman, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Shield. "We've built Shield as an AI-native operating system that brings together trusted communication data, intelligent risk detection, and human control. We believe this latest Gartner recognition reflects our ability to turn that vision into results for customers. As we advance agentic AI and expand our global presence, our goal is to help regulated organizations with the most complex client needs reach a state of continuous compliance readiness."

The Gartner reports are closely watched in enterprise software markets because they shape how buyers compare suppliers in specialist categories. For compliance technology companies, inclusion can help validate product breadth and execution with banks, brokers and other heavily regulated customers.

Shield's latest ranking also highlights how AI is becoming more central to governance software, particularly as firms seek to monitor not only traditional text communications but also voice, video and interactions with generative AI tools. That shift is pushing providers to show they can manage large data volumes, support multiple languages, and maintain audit trails and oversight controls.

Against that backdrop, the six use cases in which Shield placed among the top three suggest a broad product range rather than a narrow focus on archiving alone. They span core compliance tasks such as investigations and retention, as well as newer areas tied to AI governance and organisational intelligence.

Gartner's forecast that 85% of customers will move to a single solution for supervising text and audio or video content by 2029 underscores the direction of travel in the market.
