Virtana & Carahsoft expand observability for agencies

Virtana and Carahsoft have partnered to supply Virtana's Agentic Observability Platform to government agencies. The agreement covers federal, state and local bodies, as well as education, defence and intelligence organisations.

As Virtana's public sector distributor, Carahsoft will provide access to the software through its reseller network and established government purchasing frameworks, including SEWP V, ITES-SW2, TIPS, OMNIA Partners, E&I Cooperative Services Contract and The Quilt contracts.

The deal expands Virtana's reach in a market where procurement can be lengthy and highly structured. Through Carahsoft, the company is positioning its platform for agencies managing complex technology estates across on-premise systems, cloud services and isolated environments.

Many public sector IT teams are dealing with a broader mix of applications, infrastructure, digital services and artificial intelligence systems. In that environment, the companies argue that older monitoring products often provide only partial views because they track separate technology layers rather than the links between them.

Virtana says its platform is designed to give operations teams a single view across connected systems. The software continuously maps dependencies, identifies the root cause of issues and automates remediation tasks as problems emerge.

Public sector push

The partnership marks a stronger push by Virtana into government and adjacent sectors, where air-gapped and sovereign environments are common and data-handling rules can restrict the use of some cloud-based tools. These customers often need software that can operate across hybrid and multicloud estates while meeting procurement and compliance requirements.

Carahsoft is a well-established intermediary in the US public sector technology market, working with software vendors and reseller partners to place products on contract vehicles agencies already use. For vendors, that model can shorten the path to market by reducing the need to build a standalone public sector sales channel.

Platform scope

Virtana says the product spans four main areas: AI factory observability, application observability, infrastructure observability and service observability. In practice, that means monitoring AI applications and supporting hardware, application execution across services and Kubernetes, core infrastructure such as compute, storage and networking, and business services and their dependencies.

The platform gathers telemetry from across an organisation's technology estate and uses that data to build operational context in real time. Diagnostic and remediation agents can identify constraints, determine root causes, recommend corrective action and automate workflows.

That pitch reflects a broader shift in enterprise and public sector IT operations toward tools that aim to unify monitoring, incident diagnosis and response. As agencies add more AI workloads while maintaining a mix of legacy and newer systems, suppliers are increasingly framing observability products as a way to reduce downtime and operational risk.
